Nike Air Yeezy II Release Details

Posted on May 15, 2012

So the time has come and we now have the official word from Nike regarding the much hyped Yeezy II release. After it’s postponement in April we didn’t quite know what was going on but we can now confirm that the official global release date for both colourways of the Yeezy II is now the 9th of June (Saturday). We will be selling both colours; the Wolf Grey/Pure Platinum and Black/Solar Red for the Australian recommended retail price of $350 per pair. There will only be three official stockists of the Yeezy II in Australia with Laced being the only official stockist in QLD. It goes without saying that these will be extremely limited, but to give you an idea, there are less than 30 pairs of each colourway in the country! …If you do the math, then you’ll see that each store only has a handful of each colourway to offer. So, due to the limited number of pairs we will be getting, we are going to hold a raffle to determine who gets to buy a pair. We feel this is the fairest way to run it considering the circumstances.

To celebrate the release we will be holding a launch event on the Saturday night from 6pm at the shop and this is when your raffle ticket (if you get one) could win you the chance to purchase a pair! We have decided to limit the amount of raffle tickets we hand out so each person has a fair chance of copping a pair. There will be a total of 70 raffle tickets handed out and these will be issued on a first come first served basis.

Apparently these are even more limited than the first Yeezy (from 2009) and the word is that this will be the last Nike x Kanye West co-lab…so, regardless of whether you’re going to rock, stock, or re-sell we suggest you get here EARLY!

*Strictly one pair per customer, no holds, no bribes, no discounts, no laybys…

Personal Collection: Japan Jordan 1

I will be showcasing a few pairs from my personal collection, and I begin with the Japan Jordan 1.  This shoe was only released in Japan in 2001.  Only 3000 pairs made, and I own #1520.  The pebble leather on these is the wll defined early retro material before Jordan Brand started compromising its quality.

New Release KD IV Aunt Pearls

My mom recently was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. After going through 6 rounds of chemo and a mastectomy, she is now cancer-free.  This Mothers Day will be a special one for me and there's nothing like a pair of shoes to accompany sentimental moments.  Kevin Durant lost his Aunt Pearl to breast cancer and in her memory, he releases a pink colorway with pearl accents called the Aunt Pearl. The shoe will release on Saturday 5/12 for $95 at Nike retailers.

Raekwon - Unexpected Victory

Raekwon - Unexpected Victory (8 of 10 rating)

I've been a Raekwon fan from way back and I'm very delighted to see his career in a renaissance of sorts as of late.  His latest effort, Unexpected Victory, continues his trend of meshing that old classic Shaolin lingo witht he new generation of emcees.  Combining new names like Fred da Godson and Vado with established artists like Busta Rhymes and Styles P, Rae sets the stage for his IceH2O artists JD Era & Camoflauge.

The production remains cosistent throughout with names like Scram Jones, 9th Wonder and Statik Selektah as well as newcomers like Blue Rocks and BT. Rae continues the trend of using multiple producers but maintaining a consistent sound.  Standout tracks include "A Pinebox Story" & "Luxury Raps" where Fred da Godson steal the show with witty one-liners like "hand on the trigger, if that finger roll, he'll lay up." My personal favorite is "Gangsta Cazals," produced by the aforementioned Statik Selektah.  This tracks displays the potential of Camoflauge & Era as they rip a RZA inspired loop to perfection behind Styles P.

Having so many tracks (18) leaves room for missteps as "Good Good" feels out of place, with its westcoast influence.  The Mobb Deep feature leaves more to be desired.  But overall, this is a solid project worth checking out.

New Release: Cavs 4s

This Saturday the Jordan 4 Retro Cavs colorway releases at various Nike retailers for $160 USD.  This shoe holds some sentimental value in the fact that the first pair of Jordans I ever owned was the OG Jordan 4 Black Cement.  Celebrating "the Shot" that sent Craig Ehlo into eternal infamy, these shoes are guaranteed to attract nostalgia-motivated OG era collectors and newbies. The younger "sneakerhead" who likes interested color combinations will appreciate the Cavs, Knicks, Mets, Florida Gators colorway.
